Promoting Product or Service Through Exhibition

March 25, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Exhibition or expo are always great to attend to, especially when it’s about computer stuff. The vendors or other company who joins the exhibition will display their latest products and sometimes also gives a demo about their best products. I love it when they’re trying to give a demo about a certain VGA card, the vendor ussually put a see-through PC equipped with the VGA card and start playing games at high quality settings.

Those vendors must have spent a lot of money just to build their stand. The bigger they are the better chance it is too attract the crowd into their booth, but they also need to be very informative and attractive about the product they’re trying to introduce.

IBM Stand

In my oppinion, the better the lightings in the booth the better. Therefore they’re going to need truss to place the lights on top of their booth to give a perfect lighting effect.  Camelback Displays could help these vendors in providing what they need for any trade show displays equipment. Their products are ranging from truss, table covers, banner stands, trade show furniture, logo floor mats, and more things about exhibit booths.

A successful exhibition will surely give a lot of advantage to the company which trying to reach their existing customer or potential customers. By joining a product exhibition a company is actually investing in their advertisement campaign.

Latest Project: dBridge Photography

March 24, 2009 · 1 Comment

Since the begining of February I’ve been working on another web-photography project called d’Bridge Photography. It took me 2 weeks to complete the prototype of the website fulfilling the client’s requirements, another 1 week was added for some revision made by the client.

For this project I offered the client to use AutoViewer photo gallery, which displays big pictures and autoresizing capabilities enhanced with Flash friendly user interaction. The gallery requires an xml file which display what data to be displayed on each gallery, the website itself features 4 (fixed-numbers) gallery.

It’s too bad that AutoViewer gallery only provides a big picture without displaying any thumbnails. The client was satisfied with the result altough thumbnail lists on each gallery would’ve been better. The website also features a basic flash animation on the welcome page.

Fashion Shopping Reference for Men

March 21, 2009 · 1 Comment

There’s nothing for men to be stylish, and there’s definitely nothing wrong with looking good around people so guys touch up your style and start looking good for the ladies. Throw away that geeky look of combined chubby tummy, stiff glasses, those dirty t-shirts, your last-week-washed pants, and start brushing your teeth. Another thing you’ll need is some fashion in you. If you like wearing casual stuff then at least try to buy a good t-shirt, some fancy jeans, and good sneakers.

Green Adidas Firebird Track Top

Green Adidas Firebird Track Top

ShopWiki.com has the reference for you to go shopping for clothes on a budget, they also have clothing for men section so you’ll know where to start searching for the clothes that matches your style online. I myself love to wear t-shirt or polo shirt combined with casual denim pants, an Adidas Track Top and Nike sneakers, sports can be stylish too especially adidas.

Despite that I’m studying in a software engineering major I really don’t want to look so geeky around people, I just find that kind of look is undesirable for myself. I have recently bought an adidas firebird track top which is something that I really wanted a long time ago, and just recently I had the enough money to buy one, the jacket itself is pretty expensive in regards of Indonesian standards, I hope it could be cheaper.. :D

iPhone SDK, NOT for Windows

February 19, 2009 · Leave a Comment

With all the buzz about iPhone more and more people are getting their hands on it developing an iPhone app is becoming very promising. So that’s why I have been thingking of creating an app myself and if I’m lucky I could sell it and earn good money.

So I went to Apple iPhone Dev Center website and look for an iPhone SDK, got the links and it’s quite big in size, about 1.3 GB as I remembered (CMIIW), but…. it’s a .dmg file, and I don’t even have a Mac. Is it not for Windows? :(

and so.. that’s how I lost my interest..

Utility-Kit Software Dalam Satu Flashdisk

February 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Start Learning Russian

February 14, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I don’t know what have gotten into me, but I just feel need to learn about Russian. I’ve always been interested in cultures and languages of other countries and this time I really like to try to learn about Russian language, at least I’m good enough to read their cyrillic character.

So, I typed my keywords in Google and it brought me to MasterRussian.com. At first I wasn’t so convinced that this site cold gave me what I wanted, but hey… I was wrong. MasterRussian.com is a great place for my to start and I recommend that you visit the site too to start learning Russian.

Anyway I think Russian is cool, so many of my colleagues try to learn German, some French, some are interested in Japanese, but they never thought of learning Russian. Hahaha.. the best thing about learning a language that rarely people understand is that you could swear, say bad things, curse them, or anything about them — hey sometimes I did that, but not mostly of course — and they wouldn’t understand a single word!! Hahahaha.. it sometimes feel good :p

I’m still a long way to go though.. and btw, can anyone tell me where is the best source of learning Japanese kanji words? I need how to read and pronounce them as well. Thanks.

Start Learning Stock Trade and Forex

Capitalism II Box

Capitalism II Box

I’ve always been interested about the world of stock trading that we’ve always seen on TV where brokers screams, yells, and do whatever it takes to buy or sell — or maybe something else — stock of some companies. From the first glimpse I wasn’t too impressed. But when I was in high school I played this game called Capitalism II, which is a tycoon-type of a game that lets us build a company of our own, creating products of our own, selling them, how to get the raw materials to produce them and one more thing, stock.

Because I love playing tycoon-like games I also found out that stocks also plays a major role in a company, even in a railroad company like the ones we could play at Railroad Tycoon series. So my interest grew about this stock thing. But until recently I’ve only discovered how to play them using the real stock of a real company with a real price in a real time but with a VIRTUAL money.. Where did I find them? Facebook.. :) well until recently I’ve just discovered an interesting Facebook application in which can teach us how to play stock realistically without having a single dime loss. The app itself is called Fantasy Investing, powered by UpDown.com

UpDown.com

UpDown.com

It seems that UpDown.com developers had paid an interest in developing Facebook app and letting people like me — who is a facebook addict.. :p — get to learn about stock exchange. Before using the app you need to create an UpDown.com account though, you can follow the link here. Then use your login detail to access Fantasy Investing in Facebook.

The app itself is pretty easy to use, and you can also do trading through your Facebook, or go straight to your UpDown.com account page. Transaction in both pages will mirror one-another so you don’t have to worry, but there will sure be some delays between the two.

My tips before planning on buy or sell stock is to open up Google Finance page to help you understand and browse companies offered stock in NYSE or NASDAQ. Because the game uses a real value of a stock then this Google Finance tool will surely come in handy.

Other than stocks, foreign exchange or abbrevated as forex is also a very popular method of trading. Too bad this time there’s no Facebook app about forex — or as far as I know –, thankfully my friend knew about a website called Marketiva, at first I didn’t know whether this site offers a free virtual forex trading but he said it’s alright. So I gave it a try.

Marketiva

Marketiva

After signed up, and downloaded the application — yes folks, you need to download their application — I start my first trading. Well I actually don’t know what to do yet.. hahaha.. but anyway it’s great, because they’re offering some virtual cash to be traded for us who’ve always wanted to learn this kind of stuff and leaving our real cash safely at the bank. Untouched.

But you could also do some real trading with Marketiva, go to Marketiva website for more info. And by the way, when you subcribe you’ll be given about 5 US$ of real money to gain real money within a real trading. Godspeed.

Latest Project: MitaHendy.com

February 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

At the end of January this year (2009) I was able to complete another project with the name domain MitaHendy.com. This time the concept of the website is about the wedding of the two couple Mita and Hendy. The website contains mainly about their love stories from each of the couple point of view, custom made photo gallery which was made by their requests, and guest book for congratulating this new couple.

The design was made by Hendy with Photoshop, and I tried to convert most of its element to CSS/HTML. Like most of my work I also used ASP.NET for this project.

Opera University Tour at ITS

November 23, 2008 · 3 Comments

Last friday on November 21st 2008 the Opera team had just visited my campus at ITS. The seminar mainly dicusses about the Opera capabilities and features such as the handy-tool for web developers called Firefly or something — I kinda forget, which is available starting at version 2.6 and I really think it really need some more upgrades because it’s not as comfortable to use compare to the Firefox’s addons Firebug. The demo of the Opera was quite short and mostly done on slides. The Opera demo was brought by Mr Zi Bin, Cheah who I think he’s a Malay because he can speak Bahasa Indonesia mixed with his Malay vocabularies, which we think some of it was hillarious. What we laughed about was the word alat sejuk, at first I don’t get it but then I realized that he was trying to point out AC or Air Conditioner which in Indonesia we simply refer it with AC.

The second presentation was really I exciting, it’s about HTML 5 and CSS 3. Yeah, those are the words of web developers and designers everywhere. The presentation was brought excitingly by Mr Bruce Lawson who’s an English and of course the course was also brought by his English accent. His degree was nowhere near the computer stuff, his degree was English Literature and Drama. It really surprised me though, never thought of that before and he’s also a member of the Web Standards Project’s Accessibility Task Force, so cool!!

The Opera team arrived at ITS after the Jumat Prayer which is about 13.00 WIB and the team was composed of three people, one is Mr Bruce, two is Mr Zi Bin, and the last one and quite surprising is a girl from Indonesia (really sorry I forgot her name, damn) which had take some internship at Opera (so cool!!!) for about 8 months, and she’s here acted mostly trying to translate our question to Mr Bruce and Mr Zi Bin.

It was such a nice time indeed and I’m hoping more international vendors will come to my campus, especially before I graduate from ITS of course.. :p Thank you for the Opera team for coming to our country and I know you have very heavy schedule doing courses in Indonesia (they’re touring the country and visiting 11 universities).

And thank you for the souvenir… a nice postman bag.. yayyyy!!! :D
